NPU initiates “Sino-Australia Engineering Universities Consortium”

On the occasion of 80’s anniversary of NPU, Sino-Australia Engineering Universities Consortium (referred as SAEUC), which is composed of 13 universities that are members of Excellence 9 (E9) and Australian Technology Network (ATN) is founded on October 12th.

SAEUC is initiated by NPU, aiming at promoting further cooperation in scientific research, talent cultivation and commercialization of research outputs among members.

Martin Bean, President of Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University, Seth Kunin, Vice President of Curtin University, Zhang Chengqi, Associate Vice-President of University of Technology Sydney, Anthony Elliott, Dean of External Engagement and Executive Director from University of South Australia and Renee Hindmarsh, Executive Director of ATN attend the inauguration ceremony. Meanwhile, Kan Kaipei, Deputy director-general of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government Foreign Affairs Office, Tan Xin, Vice-president of Tianjin University, President Wang Jinsong and Vice-President Zhang Weihong of NPU also attend this ceremony.

"SAEUC is of great significance in deepening cooperation in regional higher education and it embodies the implementation of the 2017 Action Plan for the “Belt and Road” in Shaanxi Province." Kan Kaipei said.

Wang Jinsong expressed that the members of SAEUC will follow the principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration, setting up a new platform for regional higher education cooperation.

Martin Bean wishes that SAEUC has become a gathering platform for advanced educational concepts and excellent educational resources.

Under the witness of E9 and ATN, Wang Jinsong and Martin Bean signed an agreement on behalf of both parties. At the meeting, the representatives of SAEUC conduct a discussion on the future work plan and propose diversified implementation plans for mutual recognition of credits, exchange of faculties, and substantive cooperation in scientific research.

The delegate from Australian Embassy in China and the heads of international office of E9 also attended the ceremony.
