Organized by China Manned Space Agency and co-organized by Northwestern Polytechnical University and Editorial Department of Journal “Manned Spaceflight”, the 5th Manned Space Conference opened at Chang’an Campus (NPU) on Oct.23. Experts and scholars in the field of manned spaceflight in China and abroad gathered together to exchange the latest academic research results of the manned spaceflight industry.
The director of China Manned Space Agency – Hao Chun, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Conference. He said that China has made a series of remarkable achievements in manned spaceflight industry, China's manned space flight will, as always, adhere to the development of combining independence and cooperation, in order to make a peaceful use of outer space.
The president of Northwestern Polytechnical University – Prof. Wang Jinsong said in his speech that NPU has cultivated a large number of outstanding students in the field of aerospace industry, making an important contribution to China's first manned spaceflight and becoming one of the two universities awarded by the China Manned Space Agency. He hoped that NPU will take this conference as an opportunity to learn from the experts and establish cooperation with them.
It is understood that the 5th Manned Space Conference has collected 176 papers, and invited a lot of experts, including leaders and scholars from Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, National Intellectual Administration, National Space Administration, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation and other departments to discuss the development of manned spaceflight, lunar exploration, energy, material science and etc. Prof. Zhang Yulin made a keynote speech entitled "Promoting the Extension of the Community of shared future to cislunar space." The world famous astronauts: Yang Liwei, Wang Yaping and Ulrich Walter also have a contact with NPU young students.
Manned Space Conference is at the highest level in the field of Manned Space Flight in China, it is held every two years, the first four were on a national scale: Hangzhou (2010), Changsha (2012), Chengdu (2014), Harbin (2016). Aimed at providing an international platform to exchange ideas on recent scientific research, the conference this year will be held worldwide.
