Amid the official launch of the China–Kazakhstan Year of Cultural Exchange in Beijing, a cultural and art exchange performance titled “KazNU–NPU” was held on the afternoon of April 7 at Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), aiming to further deepen people-to-people exchanges between students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) and NPU. A student art troupe from KazNU visited NPU and joined NPU’s student art troupe for the performance. The event was attended by KazNU President Tuimebayev Zhanseit Kanseituly, university officials, and representatives of faculty and students from NPU.


The atmosphere was vibrant, with continuous applause throughout the event. Faculty and students from KazNU presented a series of programs rich in ethnic character and youthful vitality. The song The Nightingale featured a clear and melodious vocal style, evoking the morning breeze and birdsong of the steppe. Dance of the Bell Sticks dazzled with brisk steps and crisp chimes, embodying the joy and charm of traditional Kazakh art. A folk ensemble performed Alqissa, offering resonant and evocative melodies, while the song Blue Eternity conveyed a serene and ethereal mood, musically sketching vast skies and introspective emotions.

Students from the NPU Student Art Troupe also delivered impressive performances in response to their guests from afar. . The traditional instrumental ensemble Harmony Across the Seas expressed aspirations for peace and good neighborly relations through elegant and harmonious melodies. The dance Spring in Splendor painted a vivid picture of renewal and vitality with graceful movements. A pipa solo, The song of Battle for Prince Lanling, delivered a powerful and spirited performance, conveying heroic grandeur and the distinctive charm of fine traditional Chinese culture.

Sharing the stage, Chinese and Kazakh students communicated through art, highlighting the compelling beauty of mutual learning among civilizations. The bilingual rendition of A Lovely Rose brought the gala to a warm and harmonious climax. Familiar and beloved by young people in both countries, the classic song gained renewed vitality through its dual-language performance. Dances such as The Swan and Joyful Dance were graceful and fluid, while songs including The World and This Is Kazakhstan expressed heartfelt aspirations for the world, hope, and the future.

“Is it not a delight after all to have friends come from afar?” On stage, music and dance intertwined; off stage, applause and smiles echoed in response. The gala not only showcased the unique charm of Kazakh culture, but also reflected the sincere friendship and mutual understanding between Chinese and Kazakh youth. Smiles, nods, applause, and cheers vividly embodied the sentiment: “You and me, from one world, we are family.” Art served not only as a bridge across distances, but also as a bond connecting the hearts of teachers and students from both universities.
It is reported that the NPU Student Art Troupe visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in May 2025, and carried out a series of cultural and artistic exchange activities.. The reciprocal visit of the KazNU Student Art Troupe has further advanced mutual learning between Chinese and Kazakh youth, contributing to continued progress in talent cultivation and people-to-people exchanges between the two universities.
