To implement the spirit of the National Education Conference and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important reply letter to international students in China, the China Scholarship Council has launched the call for proposals for the 2026 "Experience China" social practice and cultural experience activities, which are designed to present a true, multi-dimensional and comprehensive view of Chinato international students, deepen their understanding of national conditions and boost cultural exchange and mutual learning. Upon Northwestern Polytechnical University application and expert review, two projects proposed by NPU were approved: Experience China – “Tracing Cultural Roots in the Loess Plateau: Experiencing the Heritage of Shaanxi” Yan’an Folk Culture Social Practice” and Experience China – the 4th"Belt and Road" Engineering and Technology International Student Academic Forum. Among them, the Yan’an folk culture social practice project has been selected into the "Chinese and Foreign College Students Social Practice Week" initiated by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the Belt and Road academic exchange activity has been rated A-level and listed as a key brand project by CSC, fully reflecting NPU’s remarkable achievements and brand influence in cultivating international students.

Program Introduction
01 Experience China — The 4th "Belt and Road" Engineering and Technology Academic Exchange Program
This program aims to respond to the Belt and Road initiative and promote international exchanges in engineering and technology as well as deep industry-academia integration. Through activities such as the "Academic Launch Workshop," "Keynote Speeches," "Parallel Sessions," "Industry Proposition Competition," "My Research and China" sharing sessions, enterprise visits, and cultural tours, the program helps international students enhance their academic presentation and project skills, deeply align with industry demands, and immerse themselves in Chinese history and culture. Students not only gain academic growth and career opportunities but also come to understand China's development through authentic narratives, becoming warm-hearted storytellers of China.

02 Experience China —“Tracing Cultural Roots in the Loess Plateau” Yan’an Folk Culture Social Practice Program
This program aims to promote the folk culture of Yan'an's Loess Plateau, facilitate cross-cultural communication between China and other countries, and enrich the study abroad experience of international students in China. Through a highly immersive two-day, one-night itinerary featuring intangible cultural heritage experiences, cave dwelling visits, farming activities, local cuisine making, and folk custom interactions, the program helps international students gain a deep understanding of northern Shaanxi's cultural treasures such as paper-cutting and waist drum dancing, appreciate the regional diversity of traditional Chinese culture, and enhance their cross-cultural communication skills. International students not only gain unique hands-on experiences and cultural insights but also become ambassadors of Yan'an's folk culture, deepening their affection and identification with China through cross-cultural interactions and building a bridge for cultural exchange between China and the world.

In the future, NPU will continue to leverage the "Experience China" program series as a key platform, further cultivating distinctive international education brands, enriching practical learning opportunities, and enhancing the quality of talent cultivation. NPU strives to develop high-quality international talents who understand, appreciate, and are friendly toward China. At the same time, using these programs as a bridge, NPU aims to deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and other countries, promote mutual learning among civilizations, and advance the high-quality development of international education in China. Ultimately, NPU is committed to making greater contributions to serving the national strategy of opening up education and to effectively telling China’s stories to the world
