Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) recently concluded its 10th International Cultural Festival, themed “A Decade of Excellence, Shared Beauty in Harmony.” The event brought together students and faculty from over 80 countries and regions for a dynamic celebration of global cultures and youth exchange.

The opening ceremony was attended by NPU Vice President Kong Jie, diplomatic representatives, provincial and municipal officials, and leaders from partner universities. In his address, Vice President Kong encouraged students to embrace cultural diversity, broaden their global perspectives, and develop into internationally competent talents who can contribute to the Belt and Road Initiative and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Chinese student representative Xiang Junyu and Kazakh student representative Chengjisi shared their cross-cultural academic journeys and expressed their commitment to serving as youth ambassadors for international friendship.

The festival featured two core segments. A multicultural performance showcased traditional Chinese lion dances and martial arts alongside Latin, Central Asian, African, and contemporary global music and fashion displays. The World Culture Exhibition transformed the campus into an interactive global village, with over 40 country booths offering authentic cuisine, traditional games, handicraft workshops, and cultural quizzes, allowing attendees to experience diverse traditions firsthand.

Now in its tenth edition, the International Cultural Festival has become a flagship initiative of NPU’s internationalization strategy. Over the past decade, it has served as a vital platform for cross-cultural dialogue, significantly enhancing the university’s global educational environment and fostering mutual understanding among youth worldwide. NPU remains committed to advancing open, inclusive education and empowering students to build cultural bridges and shape a more connected future.
