To further strengthen educational and people-to-people exchanges between China and Kazakhstan and cultivate future contributors to China–Kazakhstan friendship, the 2026 Spring Camp for Outstanding Students at the Kazakhstan Branch Campus Campus of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) officially commenced on the afternoon of 18 May. The spring camp has attracted 32 outstanding senior undergraduate students from Kazakhstan. Through a series of activities focusing on academic exchange, cultural experience, scientific research practice and admissions selection, the programme aims to provide participants with a deeper understanding of NPU’s educational strengths and the talent cultivation system of its Kazakhstan Branch Campus Branch.
At the opening ceremony, Li Ziwei, Associate Dean of International College and Vice President of the Kazakhstan Branch Campus, noted that the Kazakhstan Branch Campus serves as an important platform for NPU to support the Belt and Road Initiative and advance the internationalization of higher education. He stated that the campus has consistently been committed to cultivating interdisciplinary talents equipped with both engineering expertise and cross-cultural communication skills. He also expressed the hope that students would broaden their horizons, strengthen friendships and contribute to future scientific and technological cooperation as well as cultural exchanges between China and Kazakhstan.
The spring camp features a rich and distinctive programme. Frontier lectures have been organised in key disciplines including artificial intelligence, information technology and materials science, introducing participants to the latest academic developments and research achievements. Students are also visiting the university’s microsatellite laboratories and large aircraft exhibition area to experience NPU’s research strengths in aeronautics, astronautics and marine science and technology. In addition, the programme includes Chinese language and Chinese culture experience courses. Special interviews are also being held for students interested in pursuing master’s degrees, with assessments covering overall competencies, academic performance and foreign language proficiency. Outstanding participants may receive pre-admission offers.
As a flagship initiative supporting the development of Kazakhstan Branch Campus, the Spring Camp for Outstanding Students also serves as a practical measure to advance admissions selection and deepen cultural and educational exchanges between China and Kazakhstan. Moving forward, NPU will continue to enrich exchange formats and expand areas of cooperation, contributing to the cultivation of more high-calibre young talents for both countries.
