On May 26, Professor Fernando Coelho, Vice Rector of the University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil,led a delegation to visit NPU. Vice President Kong Jie held a meeting with Vice Rector Coelho and his delegation.
On behalf of the university, Kong Jie extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Vice Rector Coelho. He stated that NPU places high priority on international cooperation and keeps expanding a high-level global partnership network. At present, the China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership is growing deeper and more substantial, and scientific, educational and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries are getting closer day by day. He expressed the hope that taking this visit as an important opportunity, PU will cooperate with Unicamp on key areas such as faculty and student exchange programs, joint research endeavors and the sharing of innovative achievements, so as to realize tangible outcomes from practical cooperation.
Coelho expressed sincere gratitude to NPU for its warm reception. He gave a detailed introduction to Unicamp’s strengths in scientific research and innovation and its featured academic disciplines in Latin America. He held the view that the two universities enjoy broad room for cooperation in applied sciences, artificial intelligence, materials engineering, clean energy and other fields. He hoped to take this exchange as a new starting point to deepen two-way exchanges of teachers and students and carry out joint collaborative research and innovation.
The visit of the Unicamp delegation has built a vital platform for the university to further deepen scientific and educational cooperation with Latin America and develop more world-class partner institutions. Taking this exchange as a fresh starting point, NPU will continuously advance practical cooperation with universities in Brazil and other Latin American countries, steadily upgrade scientific, educational and cultural exchanges between China and Brazil as well as China and Latin America, contribute NPU’s strength to serving the country’s overall diplomatic layout, and advance the high-quality development of the China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership.
Relevant officials from the School of Mechanics and Transportation Engineering and the International Cooperation Office attended the meeting.
The University of Campinas (Unicamp) is a public research university located in Campinas, a city hailed as the "Silicon Valley of Brazil".
