On June 13, the 2026 Work Conference and Forum on Action Plan for International Student Volunteer Services in China was held in Beijing. Centered on the theme "Study in China, Volunteer Side by Side", the event was guided by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, hosted by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, and co-organized by Beijing Foreign Studies University and Beijing Language and Culture University. Faculty members and students from the School of International Education of NPU were invited to attend the event
At the conference, Wang Daquan, Director of the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, and Yang Dan, Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, delivered speeches in sequence. Afterwards, the Operating Mechanisms for the Action Plan for International Student Volunteer Services in China was released to advance the standardized and long-term implementation of the Plan.

The 2026 Volunteer Service Programs for International Students in China were officially launched, with various programs from 19 universities nationwide approved for project establishment. Among them, NPU was designated as one of the inaugural member institutions of the program.
Three programs from NPU have obtained official approval: the "Silk Road Heritage" Museum Docent Team, the "Silk Road Sunshine" Volunteer Teaching Service Team, and the "Silk Road Career Guide" Employment Support Team.
Bayarbat Khuslen (Chinese name: Luna), an international student from Mongolia at NPU, read out the volunteer service initiative as the representative of international students from all participating universities. Zhang Xi, Director of the International Student Administration Office, attended the flag-awarding ceremony for the program’s member institutions. TAY CHE MING (Chinese name: Zheng Zhiming), an international student from Malaysia, represented NPU in exchanges between students and volunteer service programs.



Launched by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange and coordinated by Beijing Foreign Studies University as the Secretariat, the Action Plan for International Student Volunteer Services in China seeks to foster meaningful volunteer engagement among international students, facilitate their integration into Chinese society, encourage their participation in public service activities, and promote intercultural understanding and people-to-people exchanges. The first cohort of the program includes 19 participating universities across China.
