2026-07-08 23:44

On June 30, a delegation led by Mikhail Pogosyan, Rector of Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), visited Northwestern Polytechnical University(NPU). President Song Baowei met with the delegation and signedagreements on educational cooperation between the two universities. The symposium was hosted by Vice President Kong Jie.

President Song Baowei extended a warm welcome to Mikhail Pogosyan and his delegation. He briefly introduced NPU's research strengths in the fields of "Aero-Space-Maritime" cluster (Aeronautics, Astronautics, and Marine Engineering), as well as its outstanding talent cultivation outcomes that have earned it the reputation as the "Cradle of Chief Engineer." He also reviewed the profound ties between the two universities spanning over seven decades, highlighting landmark cooperative achievements such as the approval of the NPU–MAI Joint Institute. He noted that 2026 has been designated as the China–Russia Year of Education, and expressed his hope that both sides, building on their core strengths in aerospace and aviation and leveraging the NPU–MAI Joint Institute as an important platform, will continue to consolidate the foundation of cooperation, promote fruitful outcomes in scientific and educational collaboration, and jointly serve the exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia.

Mikhail Pogosyan expressed his great pleasure at visiting NPU once again. He noted that the two universities share a highly aligned philosophy in talent cultivation, both committing to nurturing innovative leading talents who will steer the future of the aerospace and aviation industries. As a landmark achievement of bilateral cooperation, the NPU–MAI Joint Institute, he added, has established an excellent platform for jointly cultivating high-caliber talents with solid theoretical foundations and outstanding practical abilities. He emphasized the broad prospects for further collaboration between the two institutions and expressed the hope that this meeting would serve as an opportunity to expand areas of cooperation, unlock potential, and ensure tangible outcomes of joint projects, thereby making positive contributions to talent development at both universities and to the advancement of China–Russia friendly relations.

The two sides formally signed cooperation agreements to further advance their educational partnership.
