As the golden autumn opens a new chapter of learning, International College has officially launched the new-semester “Peer Mentor” program to strengthen academic culture, help 2026 freshmen and current undergraduates quickly adapt to the fall-semester course pace, and overcome key academic challenges. The program provides targeted and personalized academic support for all undergraduate students , building a mutual-growth platform with outstanding peer mentors to accompany students in steadily improving their academic competence.
To ensure the professionalism and effectiveness of the tutoring, International College selected six core courses as dedicated tutoring subjects based on the characteristics of the fall-semester curriculum and the areas in which undergraduates commonly encounter difficulty: Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, Calculus III (Part I), Calculus III (Part II), University Physics IV (Part II), Programming Fundamentals (Python), and Mechanical Drawing. As foundational courses for undergraduate study, these subjects cover a wide range of concepts and require strong logical reasoning. They therefore form the primary focus of this round of peer tutoring.
Following the principles of selecting the best candidates and matching them precisely, this recruitment targeted master’s and doctoral students across the School with strong academic performance, a high sense of responsibility, and excellent communication skills. Teachers of the six core courses were specially invited to participate throughout the evaluation, assessing candidates comprehensively across dimensions such as professional knowledge, ability to explain key and challenging course content, tutoring and problem-solving skills, and sense of responsibility, ensuring that each selected mentor was well matched to the academic support needs of the assigned course.

After multiple rounds of selection, the School assigned two outstanding master’s or doctoral peer mentors to each core course, continuing and optimizing the “dual-mentor collaborative tutoring” model to build complementary, mutually supportive tutoring teams. Fall-semester tutoring will closely follow the teaching progress and students’ learning conditions, flexibly carrying out diverse activities such as systematic lectures on core knowledge points, breakdown and analysis of key and difficult points, hands-on practice with classic problems, and review of frequently missed questions.

The fall-semester program will continue to harness the strengths of peer support by fostering closer interaction between graduate students and undergraduates, promoting a strong academic culture, and encouraging mutual learning and shared growth.
It provides a practical platform for graduate students to develop themselves and empower others, while continuously helping all undergraduates of International College to consolidate their academic foundations, improve learning abilities, and build learning confidence, comprehensively boosting the quality and efficiency of the School’s talent cultivation.
