On the morning of October 26th,NPU held the appointment ceremony of honorary academic rank in the Second Conference Room of Conference Center to appoint Germany astronaut of science,Professor Ulrich Walter from Technical University Munich as the advisory professor of NPU.
On behalf of NPU, He Guoqiang, the Vice President, expressed the congratulations to Prof.Ulrich Walter who was appointed to be the advisory Professor of NPU. He also said that Prof.Ulrich Walter is the first foreign astronaut among the advisory professors of NPU and Prof.Ulrich Walter is the physicist in the flight specialists for he works in manned and unmanned space science and technology as well as teaching and doing scientific research in space system engineer. In addition, he said that Prof.Ulrich Walter’s attendance to the 5th Manned Space Conference, the academic speech for the teachers and students of NPU and the in-depth corporation with the small satellite team of NPU all had a great significance on broadening the international horizon of the teachers and students of NPU. And so far, the China-Germany friendly international corporation project on micro satellites that has been jointly promoted by the team led by Prof.Ulrich Walter and NPU has been supported by both of the two governments, the Germany government and the Chinese Government. And there is a plan that in the 50th anniversary of China and German establishing the diplomatic relationship, a micro satellite will be launched. He agreed that in the meantime of the appointment ceremony, NPU should enlarge the corporation with TUM in aerospace and make more efforts to improve the influence of NPU in the worldwide. Also, NPU promised to carry out well service guarantee for the case.
Prof.Ulrich Walter said he felt honored to be appointed as the advisory professor of the NPU.“For many years, I have been proud of myself as being a scientific researcher and at same time, I have considered the education as a significant issue. Thus, I have always devoted myself to into teaching Germany teenagers space science.”,Prof.Ulrich Walter said, “As the advisory professor of NPU, my important responsibility is not only to promote the scientific corporation between the universities, but also to promote the exchange students from the schools in German and China and to let more people know that NPU is an excellent university in the world.”
