On August 18, the internationally renowned publishing organization Elsevier granted the 2021 Crossley Best Paper Award to Liu Jing (first author and corresponding author) from the Underwater Autonomous Vehicle(AUV) team in the School of Marine Science and Technology. The winning paper is A statistical feature investigation of the spalling propagation assessment for a ball bearing, published mechanism and Machine Theory in 2019. The paper provides a new idea for the early fault quantitative diagnosis on rolling bearings in the mechanical drive system in ships and underwater vehicles.
The Crossley Award was established in 2016 by Elsevier and the Editor-in-Chief on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Mechanism and Machine Theory and is named after Professor Francis Rendel Erskine Crossley, the father and the first Editor-in-Chief of the journal. The Crossley award is given annually to recognize the most successful paper published in MAMT over the prior two years as judged by the journal’s senior editors.
