On October 13, the 21st International Fall Virtual Conference on Computer and Information Science (ICIS 2021-Fall), organized by IEEE and ACIS, hosted by the School of Software, NPU was successfully held online on ZOOM platform. More than 100 scholars and experts as well as our faculty and students attended the conference, with the opening ceremony chaired by Prof. Kailong Zhang.
The conference started at 9:00 am. Prof. Yan Ning Zhang, the chair of the conference and assistant to the president, gave a welcome speech on behalf of NPU, hoping that the participants could actively communicate with each other and wishing the online conference a great success. Prof. Simon Xu, member of the Association for Computer and Information Science International (ACIS) and Algoma University, Canada, delivered a speech on behalf of the association and thanked NPU for organizing the conference. Prof. Jiangbin Zheng, Chair of the conference and Dean of the School of Software, delivered a speech on behalf of the organizer.
After that, seven group presentations were given as scheduled, with papers on topics such as modelling and design methods, hardware and software systems and mechanisms, and intelligent systems, etc. The group discussions were chaired by scholars from Xidian University, Communication University of China, Chang'an University, Shaanxi Normal University, Xi'an University of Posts & Telecommunications, etc. At around 4:00 pm, after all presentations were completed, the conference was successfully closed.
The success of this conference inspires the enthusiasm of teachers and students in scientific research and benefits creating a lively and diverse academic atmosphere of exploration and innovation. Through the academic reports with diverse themes, rich contents and various forms, the students' knowledge and academic thinking vision were expanded. In the future, the School of Software will continue to explore new forms of academic cooperation and methods of academic activities and make active efforts to hold academic activities with more partners, wider coverage and more participants.
