Northwestern Polytechnical University launched 2022 Global Partner Week in May

Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) 2022 Global Partner Week was successfully launched in May. The events of the Global Partner Week were held both online and on-site at the end of May this year including Opening Ceremony and Open House events. Experts and scholars from 40 world-class universities and institutions in 12 countries and regions participated. Ms. DU Xiaoyan, senior administration officer from Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ms. GUAN He from Education Department of Shaanxi Provincial Government, Mr. LI Xiaozhe from Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, NPU Vice President Prof. SONG Baowei, representatives from University of Bristol, Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA), German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and University of Toronto attended the Opening Ceremony on 19th May.

Ms. DU Xiaoyan said, this Global Partner Week is important to promote the quality higher education after the pandemic era. Universities like NPU should undertake the responsibilities to cultivate the young talents with global vision and cross-cultural competence. Mr. LI, the deputy director of Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange pointed out that NPU is one of the leading universities in China, and its global partnership progress has improved international cooperation not only for NPU itself, also to the western China significantly. Ms. GUAN He mentioned that higher education must lay increasing emphasis on international cooperation and exchange, even with the dramatic change of the global situation. Prof. SONG Baowei extended warmest gratitude to all participants in and abroad and underlined that NPU will take full advantage of this Global Partner Week to fasten the old partners and establish new networks, and will consistently explore the new model of international cooperation in higher education.


Ms. Agnes Nairn, Vice President from University of Bristol, Mr. Damien Fabrègue, Vice President from Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA), Ms. Ruth Schimanowski, Director from German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and Mr. Robert Macgregor, Vice Dean from Faculty of Pharmacy from University of Toronto congratulated the Opening Ceremony through recordings. All partners reviewed the cooperation history with NPU, and they all wish this event a fruitful success.

The main theme of this year’s Global Partner Week focuses on “Gather global resources to expand cooperation paths and promote talent cultivation”. Experts and scholars discussed how to improve the global competence for the young talents, and how to endorse global vision ability into higher education in this era. Scholars and students who had oversea experience also shared their stories and experiences to the participants. Mr. ZHANG Shuanggu shared his own experience and insight on the topic of global competence cultivation. He also stressed the necessity to promote the global vision in the higher education and illustrated abilities needed when people are working the international organizations.

NPU alumni, Prof. LIU Qinghua and Mr. LIU Meng who have rich experiences overseas. They have shared their own experiences from different points of view. Prof. LIU Qinghua used to study at Mariad, Spain for several years, and he introduced his own story staying at Mariad and all his own feeling for being a young scholar overseas. Mr. LIU Meng is currently working at UNESCO at Paris, France. He introduced his different working stages and experiences from the point of international organization, mainly under the framework of UN system. His experience is another successful example of NPU’s education outcomes with global competence.


2022 NPU Global Partner Week aims to establish diverse communication platform with world-class universities and institutions to promote talents work of NPU. In this way, deep collaborations with high-level universities and institutions will be enhanced.
