On the evening of April 9, as the first performance of the 2023 Campus Drama Festival of Northwestern Polytechnical University, the original campus play Looking for Shi Changxu was staged in the Ao’xiang Student Center, Chang’an Campus. This is following the “The Backbone of the Republic - Science Master College Publicity Project” Guangxi variety show, the third stage for College Student Art Troupe Drama Team to perform the play during this semester. After the training for the outdoor performance, the crew members in front of the stage and behind the scenes cooperated with each other more smoothly and performed more skillfully. Together, they presented a wonderful performance for more than 1,000 teachers and students of the scene.
The original campus play Looking for Shi Changxu is a work created by Northwestern Polytechnical University with renowned alumni and academician Shi Changxu, the father of Chinese materials science, as the prototype character. This play is also the opening work of Northwestern Polytechnical University’s 2023 Campus Drama Festival.
The performance ended with enthusiastic reactions and continuous applause. In the play, Shi Changxu led a research team to actively develop and promote the vigorous development of materials science in China. Later, due to the urgent needs of the national cause, 80-year-old Shi Changxu once again bravely shouldered the heavy burden, broke through technical difficulties, and achieved significant technological achievements. This extremely noble pursuit of science is a well-deserved example for contemporary scientific researchers and young students of the new era.
