On May 19th, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) hosted its annual grand sports event – the campus marathon. This year’s event attracted enthusiastic participation from nearly 4,000 contestants from NPU, along with many alumni returning to partake in this feast of sports and youth!
In the early morning, the Dongfeng Square at the north gate of Chang’an Campus of NPU was bustling and lively. The school aerobics team, dragon dance team, and martial arts team brought healthy and energetic performances, with the aerobics team lead contestants in pre-race warm-up exercises.
As the starting gun fired, thousands of runners surged from the starting line, their faces glowing with youthful smiles and their eyes shining with determination. At that moment, the campus seemed to be ignited by their enthusiasm, brimming with vitality and passion.
Dongfeng Square, Cruising North Road, Dongda Road, Sanhang Avenue, Huashan Road, Cruising West Road... Every corner of the campus shows NPU’s deep relationship with sports. NPU consistently emphasizes the development of students’ comprehensive quality, with physical education being an indispensable part. The school not only has perfect sports facilities but also actively organizes various sports activities, encouraging students to step out of the classroom and enjoy the fun of sports.
This campus marathon showcased the spirit and vitality of the people of NPU. In the race, contestants not only challenged themselves but also felt the power of teamwork through mutual encouragement and support. With their sweat and effort, they embodied NPU’s motto “Loyalty, Integrity, Courage and Perseverance,” adding a vibrant landscape to the campus.
After intense competition, the champions of each group was announced: Student Men’s Champion Zhao Mingxuan (22 minutes 13 seconds), Student Women’s Champion Gong Linhui (30 minutes 53 seconds); Faculty Men’s Champion Li Shiyang (27 minutes 27 seconds), Faculty Women’s Champion Zhang Siqi (28 minutes 6 seconds); Alumni Men’s Champion Chen Hong (22 minutes 27 seconds), Alumni Women’s Champion Qu Gaomin (38 minutes 16 seconds).
The event concluded successfully. The completion medal of this event is engraved with the iconic sculpture “He Zun” of NPU, which symbolizes the grand ambition of the people of NPU who are committed to serving the country. This medal is not only acknowledges the contestants’ efforts, but also witnesses their youth and passion.
The campus marathon is not only a sports competition, but also a cultural feast and a youth gathering, which highlights the spirit and vitality of the people of NPU and drives more people to join in sports activities.
