Successful Conclusion of the 2025 Sino-Euro Spring School at NPU

2025-05-12 11:02

On April 30, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and the European Union, the closing ceremony of the 2025 NPU Sino-Euro Spring School was held at the Youyi Campus. Vice President and Dean of the Graduate School, Yue Xiaokui, attended the ceremony and presented honorary certificates to the faculty representatives of the Spring School. Director of the International Cooperation Department, Kong Jie, awarded graduation certificates to Chinese and international student representatives. Officials from the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee, Graduate School, Academic Affairs Department, Sports Department, School of Astronautics, School of Marine Science and Technology, School of Mechanical Engineering, and the Institute of Flexible Electronics were also present at the ceremony.

The NPU Sino-Euro Spring School is one of NPU’s flagship international exchange programs. By offering a rich blend of cutting-edge science and technology courses alongside immersive experiences in traditional Chinese culture, the program fosters academic innovation and cultural exchange among young people from China and Europe, injecting new vitality into inter-university cooperation. This year’s Spring School brought together over 100 faculty and students from NPU and eight partner universities across four countries, including the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (France), the École Supérieure des Techniques Aéronautiques et de Construction Automobile (France), the University of Barcelona (Spain), the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain), the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain), the University of Salamanca (Spain), the Polytechnic University of Milan (Italy), and the Brand University of Applied Sciences (Germany).

The 2025 Sino-Euro Spring School centered on the theme of “Intelligent Integration and Green Technology,” balancing science and the arts while emphasizing the integration of theory and practice. A total of eight interdisciplinary courses were offered, including: Exploring Green Aerospace Fuels, New Energy and Fuel Cells, Computer-Aided Design and Fabrication of Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Resin Matrix Composite Laminated Aircraft Crafts, Frontiers and Experiments in Optoelectronic Materials, Creative and Fun Clock Design and Fabrication, Design and Practice of Small Solid/Hydrodynamic Sounding Rockets, Marine Energy and Green Development: Toward a Carbon-Neutral Future, Fundamentals and Applications of Large Language Models.

The 10-day Spring School fostered deep friendships between NPU and European universities. It enhanced cultural exchange, broadened international perspectives, and strengthened students’ capacity for global governance. For the teachers and students of European universities, the program also provided a valuable opportunity to experience China’s rapidly evolving innovations in science and technology and to gain a deeper appreciation of traditional Chinese culture. Both Chinese and international students found the Spring School to be a highly rewarding and enriching experience:

Yuwei Zhang, a Student at the School of Public Policy and Administration, NPU

“Serving as a volunteer during the ten days of the NPU Sino-Euro Spring School was a wonderful cultural exchange feast. The shifting light and shadows along the Wutong Avenue on campus reflect the moments we shared with students from around the world, whether in classroom discussions or extracurricular activities, we explored the wonders of science together and discovered the charm of the ancient city of Xi’an.

Even when tired, our hearts remained passionate, all for ensuring that our friends who came from afar would leave without regret. At farewell, we exchanged meaningful gifts, and in that moment, I suddenly realized—had we not planted an everlasting flower of friendship in each other’s lives? I am truly grateful to the university for offering us this invaluable opportunity. It allowed seeds of different civilizations to sprout across mountains and seas, and enabled the youthful energy of our twenties to resonate in harmony with the spring breeze of the glorious ancient capital.”

Aaron, a Student from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (France)

“On behalf of the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the teachers, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to this event at NPU. We truly enjoyed our time in China, in Xi’an, and at NPU—it has been an unforgettable experience for all of us. For many of us, this was our first visit to China, and we were deeply moved by the culture, cuisine, and beauty of Xi’an. This experience has sparked a strong desire in us to return and explore more cities across China. Once again, thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!”

Nisa Habibun, Student at the Institute of Flexible Electronics, NPU

“It has truly been an honor to meet and spend time with everyone through Spring School. As this wonderful chapter of my life comes to a close, I feel both deeply grateful and a little wistful. The connections we’ve built and the moments we’ve shared will forever remain in my heart. I sincerely hope that our paths will cross again in the future, and please know that China will always welcome you back with open arms.”

This year’s Spring School has provided a valuable platform for promoting deeper and more fruitful cooperation between NPU and its European partner universities in scientific research, education, and talent exchange. Looking ahead, we hope to welcome more world-class universities to join the Sino-Euro Spring School in the future. Through meaningful interactions among Chinese and European students, we aim to enhance mutual understanding and trust and to write a new chapter in China-Europe friendship through in-depth cultural and educational exchange.
