2025 Freshman Orientation Ceremony of Queen Mary University of London Engineering School, NPU

On the afternoon of August 24, 2025 Freshman Orientation Ceremony of Queen Mary University of London Engineering School (QMES) , NPU, was held at the AoXiang Student Centre on the Chang’an Campus. The event was attended by Dean of QMES Fan Xiaoli, Secretary of the QMES Party Committee Dai Fuping, Executive Vice Dean of QMES Maria Romero-Gonzalez, Vice Dean of QMES Wang Yongxin, Secretary of the QMES Party Committee and Vice Dean Cheng Yin, as well as teacher representatives from both China and UK, counselors and head teachers for the 2025 cohort of new students, all new students, and parent representatives. The event was hosted by Dai Fuping.



Fan Xiaoli, on behalf of the school, extended a warm welcome to all new students and expressed heartful appreciation for the trust and support bestowed from the students and parents. Looking back on the school’s founding mission and original aspiration, she highlighted the high-caliber faculty from both Chinese and British sides, cross-cultural training model, and the remarkable achievements in cultivating the international talents in recent years. She emphasized that every accomplishment of the School has made is the result of the consistent efforts of the students and the silent contribution and unswerving support from the teachers and parents. In closing, she encouraged the Class of 2025 to push boundaries, embrace innovation, and approach their studies with initiative, writing their own chapters of excellence.



In her address, Maria Romero-Gonzalez stated that over the next four years, the faculty will provide students with the cutting-edge scientific and technological knowledge, develop the ability of problem solving and teamwork skills, and help them grow into the all-round professionals. She urged students to value the university years, to make the utmost of the academic and research resources provided by QMES and NPU, and to actively engage in the academic exploration and social practice. She encourage them to cultivate the qualities including diligence, practicality, perseverance, courage, and innovation in order to lay a solid foundation for the future endeavors.



Wang Yongxin and Cheng Yin issued the letter of appointment to the counselors and head teachers of the Class of 2025, symbolizing both responsibility and commitment. Waves of applause reflected students’ expectation and made a new starting point for the shared growth of teachers and students alike.



Zheng Yunpei, a student representative from student representative of the 2024 intake, shared practical advice drawn from her own experiences at QMES, including the scholastic guidance and practical tips in daily campus life. She also expressed her genuine hope that every freshman in the following years could shine brightly in their own way at QMES.



Jie Haoran, a student representative of the freshmen of 2025, shared his aspirations for the study and life in the future. He expressed his determination to follow the footsteps of outstanding seniors and hone his capacity on this international platform so as to pave the road to be an innovative professional with international competitiveness and a sense of responsibility to the times.



In his concluding remarks, Dai Fuping made wished to the students with words, “Youth konws no bounds, striving blooms in glory.” He urged that the students to stand at this new starting point in life with both a deep sense of patriotism and a global vision, to study hard and dare to innovate. He affirmed that the entire faculty of QMES, both Chinese and British, will stand alongside students in support of their dreams.
